She's been outside longer than she was inside...

Hadley, you are 9 months old baby girl!!! These 9 months have been filled with so much joy, my heart is so full.

Age: 9 months.
Weight: She was 17.3 lbs. 30 percentile. My string bean :)
Length: She is LONG. 95% in length. 29 inches. Def has mama's genes there.
Milestones: Oh my, where to start! She says "dat" and....wait for it..."MAMA"...and "dada" and calls Ziggy "zee". She stands up on her own, scales the couch, plays basketball in our bar stools, plays peek a boo, loves the bath, looks for things when she drops them, figured out what the crib skirt was and loves to pull it up and down...she's such a joy1
Sleep: *knock on wood* after her top 4 and bottom 2 teeth popped through (at the same time) she's been sleeping like a champ all night. Some nights it's more difficult to put her down and I just give her some mommy snuggles and she starts snoring right away..warms my heart so much.
Best moment: 3 days ago...I walked into her day care room to pick her up (the best moment of my day already) and she looked at me and let out a huge "MAMA!!!!!!!" and crawled towards me half laughing/half crying because she felt like she wasn't crawling fast enough to get to me. Makes it so much harder to be at work all day!!!!
Health: Still has that darn cough!!!!!! It's "oklahoma allergies" (really, dude?!) and she has goopy eyes from a sinus thing I think...darn flu/cold season.
Things to remember:
-She has 4 top teeth and 2 bottom ones
-She's in 12 month clothes
-She does not like wearing shoes AT ALL so we don't
-She is a snuggle bug and I love my baby snuggles
-She started loving the bath this month
-Her hair is slowly growing longer
-We play peek a boo all throughout the house and it's so much fun..especially when she squeals
-she loves her picture on the refrigerator and laughs at it when we walk by
-Zero interest in sippy cup or table food

Hadley, you are our Ephesians 3:20. Our miracle and something even better than we could ever ask, think or imagine.

Journey as a Beachbody Coach...Ready, set, GO!

Y'all..I am SO excited to be writing this post today. I've been blessed to have the opportunity to become a Beachbody Coach & am SOOOOOOO happy about it.

Basically, what I GET TO do is help others with workouts/meal ideas, be kept accountable by my awesome team and watch lives get changed! What's NOT to love about this?!

I'm in the coaching basics class and can't wait to kick off my first challenge group in February! I'm also a participant in a challenge group and it's SO awesome! Why, might you ask? Well--let's break this down:

1- A challenge group provides a support group FREE OF CHARGE. I used to have a personal trainer (where we would pay....brace yourself....$600/month for!) Now, he was awesome and got me into the best shape of my life before going to Training School for my job. However, having the opportunity to have a huge support group (of both male and females), people on the phone that I can text/call when I need a push/have a question AND being able to get my butt kicked in my own home without paying a gym membership...HELLO SIGN ME UP!
{{Awkward photo but I'm pretty excited about it. I had a baby 8 months ago, and am now wearing jeans that I purchased 12 years ago!!! Thank you to support friends, workouts that allow me to sweat without further injuring my back and eating clean (minus my Oreo obsession!)}}

2- Which takes me to #2--I knew that I wanted to participate in a challenge group, so I had to do my research.  I went onto the beach body website and at the same time, came across a friend from college who was on the crew team with me. She happened to be a beach body coach and messaged me to say hi. Well, I started asking questions and told her about my injury that i'm still rehabbing (I herniated a few discs in my back 6 weeks after having Hadley because I was cleared to go running when I shouldn't have been...darn PT test for work and trying to get back to it!) Anyways...she asked me if I have ever done PiYO..and I did it live a few weeks before talking to her and LOVED IT! But the only problem was, we were canceling our gym membership that the class was at because we hardly used it (life as full time mom, full time Epidemiologist who gets to work at 0630....it gets tough). Well Beachbody has a PiYO HOME WORKOUT! SOLD AGAIN!!!

{{LOVE THIS! If you can't do impact/jumping..this is for you! It makes me feel like I got a great workout in while strengthening my core to help my back out even more.}}

{This is what home workouts look like in my life HAHA}

3- Shakeology. I love it. It makes me feel SO great and I'm not just saying this. I've waited a little bit to tell everyone about it because I wanted to try for myself and give an honest opinion. I just have the chocolate one, mix it with water, and shake it in a blender bottle and drink. I don't blend it since I drink it on the go at my desk but it tastes SO great. I usually have it in the early afternoon when I used to have an energy drop (it happens when you are up during the night with a hungry baby!), ever since I started drinking it--I have energy ALL DAY! I'm ordering the Vegan Chocolate one for next month & can't wait o share about it.

{{Yummy!}}

So--long story short--I'm now a coach, have more energy and have been so sore from all my home workouts lately!  can't wait to start my coaching journey along side all of you. Stay tuned for the next phase of this--the time the ball gets rolling!

Up & Ready,
-M

Hearing God's Voice Part 1

How ironic that my last post was about being unsure about the future but sure that God has it covered....I know i'm going to look back on these posts one day once His plan comes to fruition and laugh. So, in order to make sure I can do that, here we go with today's thought...I titled it part 1 because I know there's going to be more to this story in the future.

I've been diving in to hearing God's voice. I love my new car with the bluetooth audio where I can listen to podcasts on the way to work (woohoo technology!). One of the Podcasts I have been listening to is Rick Warren's. Yesterday, he talked about how God wants to plant a seed in our mind but if it's landing on hard soil, it can't be planted. What does that mean to me? Well..it means that I need to allow my mind to be nourished by His word, receptive to ideas and able to filter between my mind's thoughts and the thoughts of God that land on my mind.

Well..let's tie this back to the last post I did. While I was writing that and the entire time after that, I was praying. I was praying for God to help me hear His voice and to reassure me that He's got it covered (stupid, right?). He has constantly been telling me "It's OK. I got this, Megan". What's even better, is that 2 days ago God placed something on my heart that I would never have thought about EVER! And now, I haven't stopped thinking about it. I'm taking this as a God-sign. More information to follow later--once I actually figure out what the heck I'm supposed to do. I think I know, I mean, clearly, God placed this on my heart and I've prayed about it to make sure it was from Him and I can say it is.

So, thank you God, for making this post totally ironic. You sure do have a sense of humor. I'm sure that You have it covered and I'm sure that the "unsure" is all part of your perfect plan.

{{This girl. melts my heart.}}

"God, you are my God. I celebrate you. I praise you. You've done your share of miracle-wonders, well-thought-out plans, solid and sure."  Isaiah 25:1 (MSG)

{{Side note: we started painting Hadley's bathroom last weekend. Can't wait to reveal it!!}}

Sure that we don't need to be unsure.

Today starts a new chapter in our family. How fitting that so many things are kicking off today, December 1st, 2014. I am currently sitting in a week long seminar that is supposed to "teach" us how to transition from our current career to one outside the gate. I'm figuring out my life with a new career, I'm beginning a 21 day challenge with Beachbody & Shakeology/PiYo AND starting the 15 day coaching basics course. HOLY COW. HELLO TO FRESH STARTS! Emotions I'm feeling right now: scared, excited, nervous, positive, negative, unsure, 100% sure....like how these contradict? Isn't this how life goes sometimes? We're so worried about the unknown/unsure and we know that God always has the perfect plan (right?) but we worry worry worry and stay up all unsure for NO STINKING REASON!

Something we can always be sure about: we will never know ALL the answers (so we don't need to be unsure about anything!) but we DO KNOW that God has the perfect plan for us.

Lot's happening around here. Can't wait to share it all. Everything from a fitness/health opportunity for all of us that I am going to lead to home DIY reveals and who knows, maybe even a knew name to get this ball rolling. ;)

Peace out--He's got it covered!

At home.

4 years. 8 moves. 3 states. 3 degrees from 3 different universities. 4 churches. 2 life groups. 3 countries. 2 dogs. 1 baby.

This is our marriage happenings in a nutshell.

You would think by now we knew how to make any place feel like "home". The truth of this matter is that WE don't make any place feel like home. the people there make it feel like home. We built a house in Oklahoma of all places and people look at us like we're crazy. We became a family here. Yes, we had Hadley here and became a [by definition] family but what i'm trying to get at is despite the craziness of the past year, we've never felt so at home than we have here and it's taken us a while to realize it.

God's really made this next season of life interesting and it hasn't even started. I'm in a huge job transition and our entire life plans went out the window a month ago when we made up our mind of what the next step in my career would be. I'm nervous but i'm at peace. I know that God has placed us in Oklahoma and that He has returned us to our home church because we are meant to be there and transform others while He transforms us.

Our life plans were convenient but God's plans are greater. Look past the convenient and look to the supernatural. Get uncomfortable. Put your faith on the line and let Him do His will.

I'm right there with you. I'm uncomfortable but I'm ready. What about you?

Over & Out,
M

Hads: 8 months old

{{This is the best I can hold her still long enough for this 8 month photo HA!}}

{{Her first Halloween}}

{{First Vacation--to Scottsdale, Arizona}}

{Her first Nordstrom bag}}

{{Shopping pros}}

Age: 8 months.
Weight: She was 16.6 lbs when we went to the dr a week before she hit 8 months old..but now she's in 12 month clothes (AHHH!)
Length: I would say LONG...long enough to be officially out of the "infants" clothes section.
Milestones: She loves to talk! ba-ba is her favorite word. She pulls up on EVERYTHING and tries to let go and kind of take steps. She waves to people. Claps when we clap. and whenever she crawls she takes a few steps then turns around to make sure we're still watching her.
Sleep: She slept like a champ on vacation last week!!! 11 hours per night! now...not so much. She was in a pack n play on vacation so we set that up in her room and she's currently sleeping in that for the first time tonight (go figure...we spent $$$$ on her pottery barn kids crib which she doesn't like to sleep in and she sleeps all night in a pack n play LOL)  And now....that we're not on vacation...she wakes up...every 45 minutes....lol

Best moment: Watching her crawl and look back at us. OH and DEFINITELY picking her up from day care every day! I have to sneak in and wash my hands quietly because the second she sees or hears me she speed crawls to me and pulls up on my leg and talks to me. It's so adorable. GOSH I love this girl so much!
Health: Her cough is so much better! She had ringworm right before our vacation but that went away.
Things to remember:
-She has 2 big bottom teeth, 2 half in top teeth and 2 more top teeth ready to make their appearance!
-She went swimming for the first time while we were on vacation and LOVED IT!
-She ate banana pieces and loved it.
-We are holding on to the 9 month sizes as long as we can because I love shopping in the "infants" section at target and that stops at the 9 month sizes LOL but obviously i'm So happy that she is a growing, healthy girl!
-She was a pumpkin for her first Halloween--cutest pumpkin ever!
-She had her first starbucks red cup (it was empty but still) and she held on to that thing as long as she could haha

-Hadley met her Great Godmother and her Godmother last week!!! It was love at first sight.
- I can't wait to see H and Alyson do life together...it means the world to me that I have Alyson as a best friend and that Hadley gets to have her as a Godmother!

Hadley, we love you so much. You make our life complete.

Hadley: 7 months old!

WOW! Where has the time gone? I know I say that every month..but sheesh! Here I am...typing her 7 month update 15 days after she officially hit the 7 month mark.

Well...she's a crawling, climbing, talking, facial expression MACHINE! I forgot what it was like to sit her in one place and....she stayed there (now THAT IS a concept). Now...she's currently on my lap while I type this and has opened and closed the drawer of the desk at least 10 times, ripped off half the post-it notes, managed to eat said post-it notes, taken a sunglass cover out of the drawer, attempt multiple times to get my pen out of the drawer and now found my small honest company lotion and is trying to figure out what to do with it....and i just sat down 3 minutes ago...i wouldn't change these moments for anything.

Age: 7 months. (On Oct 9...)
Weight: No idea. They didn't weigh her at her flu shot and she doesn't have another routine appt until 12 mos!
Length: I would say 29-30 inches. She's a string bean (just like her mom ;) )

Milestones: She is a speed crawler..and she's a monkey. We get calls from day care at least once per week about an "incident report", which is basically a boo-boo that she gives herself from being a monkey. The most recent: she got up on the baby table, crawled over a cube toy, tried to swing from holding up on the side of one crib over to a toy...oh and she stands up in her crib and grabs her mobile...needless to say..the second she wakes up we are bee-lining it to her bedroom because I get scared she's going to try to stand up and swing out!

Sleep: Hasn't slept through the night for a few weeks now. As a matter of fact, she's up every 3 hours...haha

Best moment: I will precede this by saying the worst moment...the worst moment was when I had a short notice work trip that tore me away from her for a week. The morning leaving for the plane was the most painful thing EVER. I just held her and was crying like crazy- I hated the fact that I was being ripped away from her. it was horrible. Now, best moment: coming home a few hours earlier than expected...running into her room where Travis was drying her off from her bath and getting ready for bed and she heard me, looked over at me, and crawled super fast right into my arms and started laughing. MY HEART MELTED.

Health: She's still congested and coughing like crazy (been like that since 3 months old) but her reflux is getting awesome. God is good ALL the time!

Things to remember:
-She started making fun noises (like "da" and "duh" and some sounds that I cant type the sound too LOL)
-She loves bananas and oatmeal. It's her breakfast every morning. She can't stand peas.
-She's in 6-9 month onesies and I put some 12 month pants on her because the 9 month ones are too short..12 months are a little too long but are better.
-She is a tummy sleeper. The second we put her on her back she flips right over to her tummy.
-She gives us the cutest smile when she's eating her breakfast on the weekends...her two bottom teeth pop out and she crunches her nose. You melt my heart over and over again Hadley baby :)
-She responds to her name and when she's crawling somewhere she probably shouldn't be I say "Hadley..." and she looks at me, laughs (w/ the cutest crinkled nose) then keeps going LOL...so my daughter!
-I call her love bug. and she loves it.
-I made a huge life decision 2 weeks ago. and it was 100% because of Hadley. I never want to miss out on life with her again.

Hadley, you are your daddy and mines world. We love you Love bug.

Peace.

{{Walk around the neighborhood earlier this week. I love that little love bug in the stroller.}}

{{"Your love is like a waterfall, waterfall Running wild and free. You hear my heart when I call when I call." Church this past Sunday. I love LifeChurch.tv Moore!}}

Last week I posted a pic on instagram that said "When I'm worried it's usually because i'm trying to do things myself. When I'm at peace, it's usually because I remember that God is in control." Now, I've KNOWN this but life gets "busy" and we forget.

I have had so much going on that I physically made my body break down in response to the stress. I realized that is enough! I had to miss a few days of work and I couldn't do anything because I was so sick! WHY oh WHY did I let stress take my body to that breaking point? Because I was being selfish and wasn't letting God take over. That's why.

This is a short and sweet post because this momma has things to do today (like study for this huge test i'm taking this weekend...) but I had the feeling that someone out "there" reading this post needed to hear this today-- IT'S GOING TO BE OK. GOD IS ON THE SCENE. WHEN HE IS PRESENT, PEACE COVERS YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES AND HE WILL ACCOMPLISH MORE THAN YOU COULD EVER IMAGINE--JUST LET HIM BE GOD!

That will be all.

Smile,
Megan

{{And...because this little face and cute moccasins make every second of every day the best blessing in the world...here's another Hadley pic.}}

Hadley: 6 months!

 photo 10633129_383931018421453_6810758261246268156_o.jpg photo 10698541_10203767778452587_5431056660218243562_n.jpg photo 10687951_10203767776892548_8743030999508942721_o.jpg photo 10548241_10203767776372535_6838910267437858497_o.jpg photo 10655161_10203767779052602_4697825291830046255_o.jpg Well, she is 1/2 year old!

Age: 6 months. (On Sept 9...)
Weight: 14.6 lbs
Length: 27  inches

Milestones: She crawls..but she would much rather pull herself up and try to walk everywhere which is nuts! HAHA She's actually had quite a few incident reports at day care because she would pull herself up on things and try to walk like the "big kids" but would get tired and fall down. This girl is on the move!

Sleep: Remember how I was SO EXCITED that my 4 month old was sleeping through the night?! Yea..well....once 5 months hit..that sleeping through the night was gone! She slept 10 hours 2 nights ago..but for the most part..she's up every 3 hours eating...growth spurt?!

Best moment: Cuddles. And then today she was playing with a red boat steering wheel decoration that we are about to hang up in her new room and she got scared of it, threw it down, and looked at me and started booking it towards me...she went right into my arms and cuddled with me because she was scared. It melted my heart I tell ya, melted it!

Health: It's been a rough couple of months with the cold/hand foot & mouth/cough/reflux....she still has the cold/cough/reflux but AMEN it is getting better every day!

Things to remember:
-She has 2 bottom teeth and they are oh so sharp!
-She loves Carrots and green beans, can't stand peas..and isn't sure about sweet potatoes..We haven't tried fruits yet.
-She's now in 6-9 month clothes because she's too long for the 3-6 month ones!
-She moved into her crib this week...up until then she had been in her rock n play sleeper. However, this girl loves to roll over and I didn't want her to roll over with the rock n play!

Hadley, you are the biggest blessing in the world. Your daddy and I love you more than anything!

Hey girl who feels unqualified--He's got you.

This has been on my heart all week..shoot, for the past couple of years, hope it doesn't dig into you too much (or actually, maybe it will & maybe it will transform you). Who knows, but here we go.

Have you seen those "Dear so-and-so" blogs that people have been putting out? Well, think of this as being written to the girl struggling to fit in, the girl struggling to find her spot....it's real and I think it's a lot more prevalent than we may think.

We've grown up learning about the difficulty women have had trying to "prove" themselves, blend into society, pursue education and have opinions that matter. And now, here we are...often times feeling like we're still in the corner. Not because we're females, at least, I don't think that's why. Mainly because there's "always someone better" and you can no longer be the one people rely on. No? Is it just me that feels like this? .........Ok..that's what I thought..moving on..

Can I get real with you for just a minute? This feels pretty dang familiar. I received a Master's degree at 24 years of age...20-freaking-4! To top that off--my grades/thesis weren't to shabby either. I think i'm a kind person, I mean, we all fall short but hey, I'm aware of it and try to better myself each and every day. I pray for people, I hurt with people, I cry with them, celebrate with them....so what is missing? Why do we, why do I, feel SO STINKING INCOMPETENT at times?!

Answer: Perhaps we're selfish & want to know all the answers & can't bear to have this reputation ALL the time?

This is a fast paced world. We climb a ladder that will never bring us to the top. We bust our butts to just find out we didn't bust them enough. Shoot, sometimes, we can just walk into a room and instantly loose credibility for just being us and having a gosh darn smile on our face! Instead of letting this change who we are, instead of being selfish and complaining about it (guilty right here), what if we just kept doing what we're doing? What if this world started to have women who KNEW they were AWESOME and kept trucking no matter what? I am who I am. If you don't like it--don't like me. That's OK. Our human selfish characteristics can take that bruise but what our emotions can't take (on our own) is the constant bruising from trying our best and still being beaten up--we need to rely on Him. I know that God sends challenges our ways to watch us overcome them and prevail but we also need the knowledge to differentiate between a Godly challenge and Satan's attack. Satan attacks where we think we are the strongest. I think his thoughts go a little something like this..."Pshh!- you 20-something with A,B,and C--you watch, I'll take out A and let your discouraged attitude ruin B and C on your own." Unfortunately, we get this thought that we aren't qualified enough and Satan starts winning that battle.

Truth of the matter is: you are freaking awesome. God looks at you in some situations and says "Hey there, my 20-something, I've blessed you with A, B and C, but I think you can really excel in A so i'm going to throw this at you, watch you grow, and then once that pillar gets stronger, we will be beefing up B and C to catch up."

No one knows your story better than you. No one knows how strong you really are. No one knows about those nights you stayed up all night learning differential equations because you just HAD to score above all the boys (and let's face it...all the other girls) in the class. No one understands how FAR you have come except for those that were up to nothing good right there with you many years ago. No one knows the pain you have felt when your expectations were sky high but when the words came out of your mouth the only response you got was a group of people making THAT face. No one knows better than you. Never give in to these attacks. Always look for the growth. And, c'mon, not everyone is going to appreciate you, but that's OK...as long as you're following God's promises then everything is A-OK. He doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called. So get ready to get dirty, get ready to dive in, get ready to get bruised a little bit, and get ready to respond to God's challenges and to tell Satan's attacks to "shove it".

There you have it. Pre-7AM thoughts scattered all over this little digital page.

Recipe for success: time off, Starbucks & Pandora

{{ Love this miracle.}}

"Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders. Let me walk upon the waters wherever you will call me. Take me deeper than my feet could ever wonder and my faith will be made stronger in the presence of my Savior. "

Isn't this just what we need. Every.single.day. I took the rest of the week off of work to study for a test that I am going to attempt to take at the end of the month (yes, prayers are very much appreciated). Don't want to put all my eggs in one basket but what I can say is that I like to have options. I feel like God puts ideas/goals on our hearts as a challenge to us and as a chance for us to prove our faith in Him. I have a few things going on where I figure He will lead me to the right answer when the time is perfect. As a VERY Type-A person it is so hard for me to not have A, B and C planned out. But I know that God has A-Z planned out and I just need to enjoy the ride.

So with that, here's to 3 days "off", lots of Starbucks & some good 'ol Pandora in the mix.

-M
