What I Wore Wednesday

So..I dont really do this kinda-stuff on a regular basis..but I decided to jump on the band wagon this week- for the main reason that I loved this shirt I wore haha! This was originally a post from August- whoops!

Travis and I went back home to CA. IT WAS AMAZING! I went to the US Open with girlfriends, he golfed with his dad, we went to dinner every night with family, we went to the open together, we grilled at the pool..the list goes on and on. Well, on Saturday morning I went out to eat breakfast with my other-other family (the Webbs) for Rachels 21st birthday. We went to the beachcomber and it was so good! I got coconut macademia nut pancakes...Yum!

Anyways, this is what I wore:

Shirt: Limited
Pants: Gap
Sandles: no idea
Cute mom with her "pimp" hat on: wasnt for sale. I got lucky.

Take a break! Do what you love!

So excited to start golfing with my husband! Tomorrow will be our first day joining the golf course! We get unlimited use, lessons and balls for our monthly dues..and its at a really nice golf course in one of the suburbs of Houston!

Today- we learned about the swing and alignment....tomorrow will be the bunkers!

Its amazing how a break from doing any studying/work/thinking yesterday really set me up for accomplishing things today! We woke up early and headed to Panera for some yummy lattes and breakfast...I finished most of my long assignment (woohoo!)

I know I have said this before- but when you are burnt out and EXHAUSTED just look up to Him. Ask for peace.

Last night, after relaxing and taking some time away from school and work and the craziness of life, I was able to wake up this morning and take a deep breath and smile and thank Him for everything. Sad to say, I get really busy and mornings just FLY by me.

If you are stressed out- just breath! take time away from what you think you HAVE to accomplish- chances are, your not getting far if your really stressed out, so whats an extra 2-3 hours away from it?

Do something you enjoy :) Praise the One who gave you life! Be with the ones that you love! then wake up and "get back to reality" haha

I am going to leave you with a song that Trav and I first heard on KSBJ. It is now a routine "wake up call" in the mornings- we listen to this song every morning before we leave our place. Try it some day, it will change your mornings!

Brain mal-functioning kinda day.

I can't seem to get any words on paper today- none for a blog, none for the 3 papers I have due in the next 48 hours, none for the huge presentation that is due next week...NOTHING!!!!

Im having one of those days...so...

I went to the mall and bought some cute shirts (all were on sale!). I also went to lunch by myself- which I don't think I have EVER done. This wasn't a quick in-and-out kinda lunch..it was a sit down..full service..bring me water please..lunch..and I was by myself and it was awesome! I just enjoyed my yummy food (woohoo French Onion Soup that was probably really really bad for me but I ate it anyways) and thought about NOTHING! The worst part was...I was so into "not thinking" that the waiter brought me my bill and I just handed him the card...he brings the receipt back and I was charged $23.00..for soup?!?! So then I had to have them refund it and all that stuff. And to think- I am usually the one who is starring at every single item that goes across the check stand and making sure it was rung up at the right price!

Do you ever have those days where your brain just isnt running full speed..or in my case, snail speed?! I think I used it too much this week!

Tonight is going to be a- relax, calm down, dont think about school work- kinda night.  I will wake up bright and early tomorrow morning and head to starbucks and get my study on...did I mention our new iPad that we are getting today? Yea about that..I over think that TOO! I walked into apple today and was all ready to buy one and couldnt get ahold of anyone so I left (that place is always a Zoo!). Then I debated buying a laptop (since mine broke and I use my iMac desktop but its so not good when you have a husband and a dog living in the same space as you are trying to write ground breaking articles! ha!)..So now I think ill just get an iPad- saves me money from buying a laptop- lets me do the bulk of the work away from my desktop and all that stuff. But yea, when Trav gets off were heading to good ol' Best Buy- because I cant take the Apple store 2x in 1 day.

I think an appropriate verse for today is:

Psalm 9:9-10 "God's a safe-house....The moment you arrive, you relax; you're never sorry you knocked."

If you are having a no-brain functioning day, like I am today, give it to Him. He will restore your energy. Sometimes, our brain is running faster than our legs can keep up and we just need to stop & catch up with it!

Show the world what you are made of!

So, the example I am going to use today is very superficial but it is what sparked my interest in this blog- so deal with it! Haha

I have been training since February 5x week and every time I leave the gym I feel sore, exhausted, hyper, sick and ready for the day- it's one awesome feeling and I love it! Well, today, my trainer decided to "switch" things up and have me train with some guys that are almost done with the INSANITY! workout (its a 60 day thing) and he wanted me to join them in their insanity workout today.

So, coming into this i was worried because a) i have never done it before and these guys were practically done with it and b) i had no idea what to expect..

Well- after 1 hour of jumping and moving all around..it was over...and I kicked all of those guys BUTTS!!! 5 months ago I couldn't even get through a 30 minute training session without feeling like I was going to puke my brains out..and today, after INSANITY! Day 50-something...I was ready for round 2!

I am not trying to brag- at all- I am still a ways from where I want to be..but...I want to use this as a point that we already know- HARD WORK PAYS OFF!

But really...those days I wanted to leave the gym before my last set or when I wanted to "pretend" I did 30 when I am only on 20...I am so glad I stuck it out and FINISHED HARD! I have never sold my self short on this training schedule and I figure "if I am paying for it- I better get my moneys worth!" The results of the hard work are not immediate..it has taken me 5 months to realize how far I have came and how much that hard work paid off..but, in time, it paid off. I cant wait to see where I am at in another 5 months from now!

We need to be like that with our lives! I know there are times when we want to go to church but were tired or we have stuff to do...or there are times when we know we should call up that person and "check in on them" but we 'dont feel like talking for an hour', etc. When those times hit- think about the result, think about the reward, think about why you know you should finish what you started.

When something is ignited in our mind and is eating us up with guilt because we haven't done it yet or we didn't do it at all- there is a reason. God sent his son to come down to earth and do save us- He finished what He started. Sure, it was hard, and sure, Jesus could have given up and said "im too tired" but NO HE DIDNT! HE got through it- He knew of the GREATER GOOD that was being done and He KNEW that the result would be bigger than anyone could imagine and He stuck it out!

When you are having a tough time with family, school, work, exercise, finances, etc...have discipline..have discernment..have faith...and keep it up! The results of your hard work will show up..and when they do ..you will be THANKFUL for every moment of pain, every ounce of discomfort and every time you told yourself "I am going to keep going. I will finish this. I can do it".

Get out there & show the WORLD what you are made of!
Hebrews 10:39 (MSG): But we're not quitters who lose out. Oh, no! We'll stay with it and survive, trusting all the way.

Get uncomfortable for Him!

So last night I was able to share a little bit about what conference meant to me...to be honest, I wish I would have written stuff down! So many things happened at conference and I wish I could of just given a LONG bullet list of it all! haha

Do you ever just take a moment to reflect on what God has done in your life?
Well, conference allowed me to do that! As Carl Lentz, Rich Wilkerson Jr., Judah Smith, Pastor Nick, Chad Veach and John Gray were speaking.. I was just in AWE! I was in AWE at how God was using them as messangers, at how I could feel the entire PLACE fill with HOPE and how I could use every WORD they said and realize that God has done everything in my life and I have been so incredibly busy and focused on going and going and going for Him, for work, for my life..that I havent really looked back and realized how He has worked in my life- especially in the past year.

Carl Lentz talked about being uncomfortable- and I just want to reflect on this and hopefully you realize this as well..or something else speaks to you through this...

I love what Carl Lentz said... "God shows up in the deep end when you are drowning". Man, is this true! I was thinking back on this last year of my life where I have been so incredibly focused on achieveing goals A-Z that I was constantly trying to keep myself from drowning..I was trying to pull myself out of the water..but the water just felt like it was going higher and higher and it was getting harder and harder to breath. I remember one moment so well...I was sitting in my closet (apparently thats where I do my thinking haha)..and I just started CRYING and I remember saying "God..figure this out! help me!" Little did I know..God was just WAITING for me to give it to Him. He knew EXACTLY what was coming for me but he was just waiting for his little stubborn Megan to realize it. Fast forward a couple of months...God not only helped me out..He made a miracle come true...He made everything my Ephesians 3:20! A year ago I couldnt even fathom what God has done with my life...its so real to me that you've gotta get out there..you HAVE to get SOAKED and you have to give it ALL YOU'VE GOT..justremember to also put your hands up and let Him grab you..let Him take you where you need to go.

I have seen what God does in our lives when we put ourselves out there..when we feel awkward..when we feel uncomfortable. I know that God gets so happy when He sees us get outside of 'our bubble' and when we realize our potential. God has given us SO MUCH! He knows what we can handle..He just wants to see if we can push ourselves to realize it. When I have goals in front of me, I am the kind of person that will do whatever it takes to get them accomplished! What conference also showed me was that, I need to keep working super hard, but, I also need to keep running towards God on my way to the goal. I know that when I have done this..God has worked miracles. I think I NEEDED to reflect on these kinds of things to realize it- I am so blessed that I realized this and that I was able to do so!

Like Judah Smith was talking about..When I was running towards some goals this year..after I was drowning..and after God pulled me out...I could see the goal..but most importantly, I saw God standing right next to that goal, saying "Come to me!".

I was holding onto the promise..but I was also holding onto the promise keeper. Talk to me a couple years back..when I was lost, and when my goals werent coming true...I would have said "what are you talking about?!..It just wasnt the right time. I just didnt have the right opportunities..etc" WRONG! I just wasnt keeping my eyes focused on the promise AND the promise keeper!

It is uncomfortable, sometimes, to tell people you cant do a-b-or c because you have church..or you have life group..or you want to read the Bible..or you would rather pray...etc..but you know what people..thats when the best things happen! I know, with my life, I wasn't getting much done when I was comfortable...I was accomplishing SQUAT. But, in the times when I became brave..when I busted out my bible at the pool instead of a dumb magazine...when I prayed at dinner around a ton of non believers...God worked miracles! He caught peoples attention...gave me connections...gave me a rewarding phone call..SO MANY THINGS were waiting for me, I just had to get uncomfortable!

This totally applies to spreading HOPE and LIFE in our city- We need to get uncomfortable..we need to go up to those people that are mean to us..that make fun of us..that think we are so WEIRD for LOVING our church! We need to get them to hear the good news and have fun! There are people in my life that think I am a nut for hanging out at church many nights a week instead of going out to bars, etc...they think I am boring..they think I dont know how to have fun...THOSE are the people that I need to reach out to! Sure, I send texts because I "feel bad" for not asking them..but of course, no response back..and I just go "ok guess that was a no"..WHAT WAS WRONG WITH ME?! I was sticking my big toe in the pool and feeling the water and then saying "oh its too cold...i dont want to go in". I NEED TO BE UNCOMFORTABLE! I need to show up at their "hang outs" I need to invite them to dinner..I need to make them dinner..I need to do SOMETHING-ANYTHING!

Another thing I noticed...Sometimes, you've only got one shot! A year ago..I saw people who I could tell just needed a friend..someone to talk to ..someone to eat lunch with, etc. but I was so busy with hw, studying, other things in life that I remember walking by them and thinking "I am too busy today...but next time I see them I will eat lunch with them." Sad to say, there was never a next time..I never saw them at the cafeteria again.

Today- it is so uncomfortable for me to sit down with someone and start talking and getting to know their story- but ya know what, every person whose story I have gotten to know- has helped my life. Sure I was uncomfortable, but God knew that if I could get over myself and talk to that person, my life would change and so would theirs.

Next time you feel it on your heart to hang out with someone, to get to know them, to bring them to church...jump in friends. Dont just feel the water.

Finally- God brings our goals/dreams to reality when we are uncomfortable. I dont know about you, but I love being uncomfortable and accomplishing something then looking back on it and really thinking "wow Lord..thank you for delivering! Thank you for breaking me, thank you for letting me meet those people, thank you for letting me almost drown and letting me know what it really feels like to be brought back to life!"

Obviously, I wasnt there, but I am PRETTY CONFIDENT that Jesus was VERY uncomfortable up on that cross. God was uncomfortable sending His only son to die for us. But He did it for us! Even when Jesus was up on that cross, uncomfortable, He forgave each and every person that hurt him. "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they have done". In the midst of pain, and extreme uncomfort- our God forgave us!

Now...if God can accomplish our goals for us when we are uncomfortable...why is it so hard for us to get uncomfortable to accomplish His goals?

PEOPLE GET UNCOMFORTABLE! We are called to bring people to Jesus. It is going to be hard, it is going to be exhausting and we are going to get hurt by people. Lets learn from the perfect example- forgive those people and keep on trying! If someone makes fun of you, the world wants us to turn away and never talk to them again. But God- He cant wait for us to get uncomfortable..go up to that person...forgive them OVER AND OVER again and share the good news with them!

You're up to something bigger than me...larger than life....something Heavenly

and the truest sign of grace
was this
from wounded hands
redemption fell down
liberating men

Do you ever just look up at the sky and say THANK YOU!

[If you dont, you should]

We get so caught up in our busy schedule that we forget to take time to Thank the One who gave us every opportunity we took.

I am overwhelmed with joy of the grace He has given us! Every time I take a chance to say Thank you...I start smiling uncontrollably and everywhere I look after that...I get excited for life! I cant believe that people just run through their busy days but dont take a chance to stop..say thank you..and smell the roses!

Life is amazing. it is truly crazy. It is a gift. It is a moment where you are only promised that one spot in time. It is so cool to see how your day goes when you are living it through the perspective of thanksgiving.

I was walking to work today and everything I saw was magnified on a greater scale...I was appreciative of EVERYTHING. When you spend your time giving thanks...I think God sends thanks down to you. ((After I give thanks, I start waving to everyone..saying Hi to everyone...smiling at everyone...)) Its a sense of accomplishment to know that life and all the circumstances in it are being controlled by Him- Its an accomplishment because you have bypassed your selfish human ways and have accepted Him with an open heart. Sure, you need to take the initiatives and work super hard to get where you want to go..but you cant get there without Him.

God knows how much He does for you..He isn't looking for a thanks because He thinks He deserves it...He is looking for a "thanks" because He wants to see you appreciate it. If you are given amazing gifts and are not appreciative do you honestly think He will keep giving them to you?

So..next time your walking around..sitting around..or doing ANYTHING..take a few minutes to thank God for what He is doing with you and your life...and allow Him to continue doing his perfect work in your life. Give your life to Him and see what miracles He does in your favor.

We serve a God of PROMISES!

I wait for the Lord

I havent blogged in a while. Life has been awesome and busy!

I was listening to Jeremy Camp today and the song "I wait for the Lord" was playing. I couldn't help but to blog about it.

So often, we get so excited about something and pray about it right then and there...which is great..always lean on the Lord for everything. However....when we don't get an answer 10 seconds later..we are lost..and frustrated..and just want to know NOW!

Well..God has a perfect plan and God works in the PERFECT time! :)

He will answer your prayers..and believe me...when He does you wont want it any other way.

God has left me waiting for a while. During that waiting time, I think He wants to see how you continue to serve Him. He wants to know that you are putting Him first. He knows His answer and His plans all along..but just like we are to have faith..He needs to see the faith in us.

Remember: when you get tired, exhausted, worried, anxious for an answer...remember what He says: "Be still and know that I am God".

Let Him take the stress for you. Let Him plan it out for you. Give God the tools, Give Him the sacrifices and Give Him your talent...watch Him turn it into reality..watch Him work miracles...watch Him put you EXACTLY where you need to be.

It really is crazy! But I am a living testimony to this! I cannot begin to fathom all the great things the Lord has done with my life..where He has put me.. how my dream career is now my life and my reality!..how He got me through all the tough times...how He was the purpose of celebration during all the amazing times..I can go ON AND ON AND ON about How God works miracles..how He answers prayers..and how we must always put Him FIRST!

Don't ever get too anxious for His answer...calm down..take a few breaths..and KNOW THAT HE HAS YOUR PERFECT PLAN...just make sure YOU GIVE HIM YOUR ALL because He is working with ALL He has to perfect your life!

:)

In Your word I place my trust.
